Vote ASHA & Co.
Exploring the art of the election campaign.
June 2024 and the UK public is heading to the polls for a General Election. Looking for novel ways to reach out to new and existing clients, we decided to enter into the spirit by inventing our own pseudo-campaign.
We created ‘Vote ASHA & Co’ with a tongue-in-cheek nod to the familiar, cliched visual and written language of election campaigns past and present. Using this approach for the visual framework and tone of voice, we set about subverting a range of issues from the ‘real’ General Election such as ‘Potholes’, ‘Health’ and ‘Justice’ to introduce our own brand-focussed agenda.
Using patriotic but politically unaligned red, white and blue as our colour scheme, the campaign featured a manifesto, badges, stickers, banners and online polls to emulate the workings and feel of a genuine political campaign. A brash homepage takeover also featured with a pop-up link enabling visitors to our website to view the manifesto.
We worked quickly, using a combination of deliberately cheesy stock photography coupled with ‘in situ’ shots of campaign elements and fake HQ personnel to give a feel of tactical, guerilla-energy to social media posts.
The campaign ran over a three-week period building up to the date of the UK General Election on July 4th 2024. Each post featured an interactive poll in which audiences could vote for their ‘favourite’ brand issue. Our online poll results were released the next day to coincide with the outcome of the Election.
